Storytime + Sensory Play Come Together at Anacostia Community Museum
The Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum is inviting children and caregivers to enjoy books, creativity and play during Big Moments, Little Stories: Storytime and Sensory Play.
Held on multiple dates at the museum, the family program features cozy storytime sessions inspired by the museum’s current exhibition. Stories explore themes such as family, neighborhoods, community, history, belonging and the fall and winter seasons.
After storytime, families can stick around for indoor play, creative exploration and time with other children and caregivers.
The program is designed to welcome different ways of participating. Sensory toys and other tools will be available for children who benefit from tactile, movement or sensory experiences.
Through storytelling and play, Big Moments, Little Stories gives families a chance to explore connections between their own experiences, their neighborhoods and the larger community stories represented at the museum.
Admission is free, but registration is encouraged.
