Little Amal is searching for something yummy to eat when she comes across a gigantic red chair and a crowd of kids all carrying their own chairs. They help her find her way to the Hillsdale Farmers Market, where Amal receives care packages of beautiful harvest food for her onward journey.

Little Amal is the 12-foot puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee child at the heart of The Walk. She has become a global symbol of human rights, especially those of refugees.
Since July 2021, Amal has traveled over 6,000 miles to 97 towns and cities in 15 countries and has been welcomed by more than a million people on the street, including hundreds of artists and civil society and faith leaders, as well as by tens of millions online. Her journeys are festivals of art and hope that draws attention to the huge numbers of children fleeing war, violence, and persecution, each with their own story. Her urgent message to the world is, “Don’t forget about us”.
By walking with Amal, you are helping to unite not just your communities but also joining a national and international network that focuses on the urgent needs of marginalized people around the globe.
Amal’s journey began in Boston on September 7th and will conclude in San Diego on November 5th. Along the way, Amal will visit Boston, Ashfield, North Adams, Hartford, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Columbus, Akron, Ann Arbor, Detroit, Dearborn, Flint, Chicago, St. Louis, Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, Atlanta, Birmingham, Selma, Montgomery, New Orleans, Lafayette, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Marfa, El Paso, Nogales, Tucson, Joshua Tree, Los Angeles and San Diego.
