Poetry, music and a few surprises are on the lineup when the 1st Friday Night Open Mic returns to Busboys and Poets Anacostia on Friday, October 2.
Hosted by DJ Art.is, the two-hour Busboys and Poetry event brings together professional spoken word artists, musicians and open mic newcomers, giving both established performers and fresh voices a chance to take the stage.
DJ Art.is brings experience from both sides of the microphone. Known for his ear for melodies and lyrics, he began behind the turntables before expanding his creative work to include poetry. His musical range spans R&B, Hip-Hop, oldies, Top 40 and Soul.
Expect an evening centered around poetry, music, creativity and community.
