MAY 16 | Anacostia Park Community Cleanup

Community members are invited to roll up their sleeves and give back to one of DC’s most treasured green spaces at the upcoming Park Care Day, hosted by Friends of Anacostia Park.

Taking place at the Anacostia Park Skate Pavilion, this hands-on volunteer event offers a chance for residents to play an active role in keeping the park clean, welcoming, and vibrant for all who visit. While the event window runs from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, core activities will take place between 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM.

Volunteers can expect a variety of outdoor projects, which may include trash and invasive species removal, mulching and watering trees, and general landscape beautification. No prior experience is needed, and all supplies will be provided—making it an easy and accessible way to get involved.

Beyond the physical work, Park Care Day is also an opportunity to connect with neighbors, enjoy time outdoors, and contribute to the ongoing stewardship of Anacostia Park. Events like this help ensure the park remains a shared space that reflects the pride and care of the surrounding community.

Those interested in participating are encouraged to sign up in advance and join the effort to support a cleaner, greener Anacostia Park.
