MAY 16 | Historic Anacostia Blooms Again with the Return of SpringTime Festival
Spring is returning to Historic Anacostia in a big way. The Anacostia BID, in partnership with Art To Go-Go, is bringing back its signature seasonal celebration—inviting the community to gather for a full day of creativity, culture, and connection.
Taking place on Saturday, May 16 from 12 PM to 8 PM, SpringTime in Historic Anacostia will transform the corridors of Marion Barry Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE into a vibrant, open-air experience. Designed to celebrate renewal in all its forms, the event encourages attendees to explore what “fresh” means to them—whether that’s through self-care, artistic expression, or entrepreneurial growth.
One of the day’s most talked-about highlights is set to be what organizers describe as the world’s largest candle-making workshop. Visitors will have the chance to tap into their creative side, crafting their own candles in a communal, hands-on setting that blends artistry with relaxation.
Adding a whimsical twist to the day, a Mad Hatter Tea Party will invite guests into a playful, immersive experience complete with tea, treats, and plenty of surprises. Attendees are encouraged to lean into the theme and arrive dressed in their most imaginative spring attire.
Throughout the day, the event will also feature live music, pop-up experiences, local shopping, dining options, and art activations—showcasing the energy and talent that define Historic Anacostia’s small business and creative community.
Free and open to the public, SpringTime in Historic Anacostia continues to serve as a seasonal kickoff that brings residents and visitors together in celebration of the neighborhood’s culture and growth.
