Applications accepted for Color the Curb: School Safety Program

The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (CAH), in partnership with DDOT and DC Public Schools, is seeking District-based artists to help create ground murals that boost pedestrian safety near four DCPS schools.

As part of the Color the Curb: School Safety Program, selected artists will collaborate with a designated school’s faculty and students—supported by a DDOT ground-mural technical expert—to design and install a bold, colorful mural that reflects the school community and helps calm traffic.

  • RFA Release: November 17, 2025

  • Deadline: January 12, 2026 at 9 PM ET

Who Should Apply

Artists with experience in:

  • Large-scale exterior murals

  • Youth engagement

  • Community-centered or collaborative projects
