Step Forward: The Walk & 5K to End HIV Returns This Saturday

On Saturday, September 20, from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m., Whitman-Walker invites the community to gather for the Walk & 5K to End HIV—a signature event that has long stood as a symbol of hope, solidarity, and determination in the fight against HIV.

This event is more than just a fundraiser. Each step taken represents a commitment to ending stigma, supporting those living with HIV, and moving closer to a future without the disease. For decades, Whitman-Walker has been at the forefront of HIV care, research, and advocacy in the nation’s capital, and the Walk remains one of the most visible ways for the community to rally around this mission.

Free Registration & Community Impact
Signing up is free and open to all. Whether you’re walking, running, or cheering from the sidelines, your presence makes a difference. By participating, you help amplify the message that ending HIV will take the collective effort of neighbors, friends, and allies working side by side.

A Gift for Donors
For those able to give, a donation of $35 or more comes with an official event t-shirt—a wearable reminder of your support and the community’s ongoing progress. Every contribution helps Whitman-Walker provide critical services, expand outreach, and continue advocating for those impacted by HIV.

Why It Matters
Despite advances in treatment and prevention, the fight to end HIV is not over. Events like the Walk & 5K provide an opportunity not only to raise vital funds but also to keep the conversation alive, break down stigma, and demonstrate that this community will not give up until there’s a cure.

Join the Movement
