Mayor Bowser Conducts Ward 8 Community Walk in Fairlawn

On Monday, January 12, 2026, Mayor Bowser conducted a community walk in Ward 8’s Fairlawn neighborhood, spending time on the ground with residents, community leaders, and local stakeholders.

The walk, which lasted just over an hour, began near Minnesota Avenue and Boone Elementary School. During the visit, Mayor Bowser engaged in conversations with residents to better understand neighborhood priorities and identify opportunities to support quality of life in the community.

Mayor Bowser was joined by the Interim Police Chief and representatives from several District agencies, including transportation and public safety departments, underscoring a coordinated, cross-agency presence in the neighborhood.

The community walk is part of a series taking place across all eight wards and is intended to provide direct engagement with residents and businesses, particularly in neighborhoods east of the Anacostia River. Mayor Bowser emphasized the importance of collaboration between District agencies, property owners, businesses, and residents in supporting strong, well-maintained communities.

These walks are designed to ensure continued visibility, communication, and connection with neighborhood stakeholders throughout the remainder of the Mayor’s term.
