JUNE 19 | Anacostia Community Museum to Host All-Day Juneteenth Celebration

The Anacostia Community Museum will celebrate Juneteenth with a full day of music, culture, foodways, art, movement, and community connection on Friday, June 19 from 10AM to 10PM.

The free celebration will feature a powerful Main Stage entertainment lineup hosted by Sir Harvey Fitz and including performances by DJ Heat, Black Alley, Chuck Brown Band, Autumn LaBella, Play Back Theater, and a headlining performance by rapper IDK.

Beyond the Main Stage, attendees can enjoy a wide variety of family-friendly programming throughout the day, including:

  • “We Make History” exhibition

  • Everyday Herbalism & Modern-Day Pickling Workshop

  • Rooted Recipes Interactive Recipe Exchange

  • The Art of Roller Skating: “Style” Roller Skating as American Folk Art

  • What’s Cracking: History and Culture of the Black Community and Shellfish

The celebration will conclude with a late skate experience in the museum parking lot featuring music by DJ B Sharp.

Organizers say the event is designed to commemorate Juneteenth through storytelling, music, foodways, and shared community experiences that honor resilience, creativity, and culture.
