LaKeta Jackees “Woo” Johnson
“Designing is like making a film: You must create the perfect first shot; and then, continue to tell an interesting story. Except, of course, The Masterpiece of your body.”
LaKeta Jackees “Woo” Johnson is a fourth-generation native Washingtonian – Yes, she is a Unicorn and sprinkles all the Magical Dust with every endeavor - multi-talented creative director, fashion expert, voiceover actress, and wardrobe/fashion stylist. Woo’s love of fashion was ingrained early on by her maternal grandmother who would often initiate fashionable games. Growing up in the 90s sparked Woo’s love of high fashion, however, a string of personal tragedies, including the murder of her younger brother, pushed her into action to tap into her creative abilities.
In 2010, she began researching seasonal trends, colors, and prints to appeal to the needs of clients, writing fashion commentary, and blogging via social media. This work led to various fashion editor positions with several online publications. Creating garments and looks that lean heavy into the avant-garde is her specialty. Her clients include media executives, on-air personalities, influencers, and everyone in between! The reach of Woo’s personal styling portfolio includes clients in Washington, DC, Virginia, Maryland, Chicago, Boston, New York, Los Angeles, and the U.K., just to name a few.
In 2020, she launched her style & marketing agency, FILTHY.HAUTE. CHIC., with the distinct mission to help clients take charge of their personal brand by developing their original style and supporting them in feeling beautiful in their skin, all while achieving the best look for the objective at hand. Through FILTHY.HAUTE. CHIC., Woo utilizes her merchandising skills by curating collections and collaborating with clients and brands on products, wardrobe, props, set materials, and much more. Her passion is to build brand experiences by adopting a client-first attitude, developing product knowledge, and acting as a brand ambassador for various industries and fashion houses. With strong family and community roots, Woo’s passion for people shines through her work and led her to accept a Community Engagement Specialist position with D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Office of Cable, Television, Film Music, and Entertainment, where she works with the Creative Affairs Office and the 202Creates initiative, supporting amazingly talented creatives throughout the DMV and beyond. In her work, Woo uses her love of fashion and the creative process to curate unique experiences, support inspirational initiatives, and build enduring relationships within the community and across the globe.
