Stay Rooted, Stretch Deep: Grounded Wellness

In the heart of Historic Anacostia, where culture, creativity, and community thrive, Grounded stands as more than just a plant shop; it's a sanctuary. This proudly Black-owned business, founded by Danuelle Doswell and Mignon Hemsley, is rooted in love, intention, and a powerful vision of wellness that's accessible, beautiful, and community-centered.

Launched initially as an online plant shop during the height of 2020, Grounded has blossomed into a brick-and-mortar oasis that now features a café, a curated plant store, and a wellness studio—all under one roof at 1913 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave SE. With every plant, every cup of tea, and every yoga class, Grounded invites you to pause, breathe deeply, and reconnect with yourself.

A Space to Grow
The moment you step inside Grounded, you're met with warmth, greenery, and intentional design that reminds you that nature heals. Whether you're searching for the perfect monstera to brighten your living space or a quiet corner to enjoy herbal tea and work remotely, Grounded has cultivated an atmosphere that inspires both inner peace and outer growth.

Grounded Wellness Studio: Flow Higher
Among Grounded's many offerings, the Wellness Studio is a hidden gem for those on a journey of movement and mindfulness. Their yoga and wellness classes are rooted in community care, featuring sessions designed for all levels, as well as others specifically crafted for experienced practitioners looking to elevate their practice.

If you're a seasoned yogi, don't miss the Advanced Fire Flow Class with instructor Aaron Young. This high-energy, breath-centered class is tailored for those with at least one year of consistent yoga experience. Expect advanced movement, focused breathwork, and a space that challenges you to expand beyond your comfort zone while staying deeply grounded.

Community First
What makes Grounded truly special is its commitment to people. Doswell and Hemsley have created more than a business, they've nurtured a space where community is central, and wellness is a shared practice. Whether you're attending a class, picking up a plant, or just grabbing a drink, every visit supports local entrepreneurship, Black women-owned business, and a broader ecosystem of intentional living.
