Why YOU should attend!
Andy Shallal, the founder of Busboys and Poets, is a prime example of the type of hometown business leader CNHED seeks to celebrate. Shallal’s businesses adhere to sustainable business practices, and he has quickly become a leader in food sourcing, employment practices, and environmental stewardship and Busboys and Poets is now a local small business success story. DC Small Business Week is not only intended to celebrate businesses, but also to acknowledge the potential in all businesses to replicate Shallal’s success with community recognition and support.
Small Business Week & Andy Shallal
In recognition of National Small Business Week (May 5-11), CNHED, Andy Shallal, and other local business leaders, in partnership with the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED), Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD), and the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA), are highlighting the indispensable role that the District’s 71,146 small businesses play in helping to make DC flourish. We are saluting the entrepreneurs, restaurant/store owners, contractors, and subcontractors, who work hard every day to start, sustain, and grow their business and employ nearly 250,000 people.
