July 26 | Community Meeting to Reopen the Anacostia Playhouse
Help Reopen the Anacostia Playhouse: A Community Cultural Treasure
Since its opening in 2013, the Anacostia Playhouse has served as a vital cultural hub for Southeast DC—offering powerful performances, community events, and a platform for local artists and storytellers. After being closed for the past 18 months, efforts are now underway to bring this beloved space back to life.
A new group, Anacostia Playhouse DC, led by founder Adele Robey and supported by ARCH Development and the Anacostia Arts & Culture District, is working to reopen and revitalize the Playhouse. Together, they are calling on the community to help restore this important venue and ensure its future as a creative anchor in Ward 8.
