INTEGRATED SAFETY AND SECURITY COUNCIL
An advisory body composed of public and private safety professionals, local businesses and community stakeholders. ISSC is focused on expanding preparedness, prevention, management, and education around safety and security situations. ISSC undertakes efforts at a strategic level to bolster positive safety outcomes and practices.
FOOD ACCESS CONSORTIUM
Through the leadership of the Anacostia BID, the DC Food Access Consortium was created to influence change and engage stakeholders to ensure inclusive access to necessities for a sustainable healthy life with a focus on those who are most vulnerable to food insecurity by amplifying our ability to provide timely decision support, prioritize and best match strategies to community needs, maximize resources and potential impacts. Our process is to develop a list of priorities, discuss and strategize, develop an idea that takes a strategic strike at the issues and address them by creating specialized councils for execution. We participate, follow up for progress and collect data for reporting.
SMALL BUSINESS NGO GROUP
The Anacostia BID Small Business NGO Group was created in 2018. The group completes small business needs assessments, analyses data, reports, develops a blueprint for action and execution. Through knowledge transfer, initiatives aiming for small business development are implemented with greater impact.
PATHWAYS TO CAREERS PROGRAM
Anacostia BID Pathways to Careers Program is an initiative to create job opportunities for the under and unemployed in the Anacostia neighborhood of Ward 8. The goal is to include those who have been excluded by providing a program with resources, training, employment and ongoing support. Spearheaded by the Anacostia BID and our Pathways Consortium Partners AEDC and CC Prep, we are coming together to break down barriers and create an opportunity for sustained employment and retention. By following the ideas outlined in the Pathways to Inclusion Report by Mayor Muriel Bowser, Anacostia BID and our partners aim to create opportunities for inclusive employment throughout Anacostia and for the Ward 8 community.
ANACOSTIA BID RESTAURANT AND LATE NIGHT ALLIANCE
The Anacostia BID Restaurant and Late Night Alliance is an association of the Ward 8 Restaurants and other businesses that remain open past 8pm in the evening. The Alliance comes together to knowledge share, create group marketing and promotional opportunities and provide needed support.
