Discover Black Creativity at the Anacostia Community Museum

The Anacostia Community Museum invites young learners to take part in Visionaries in Art: Exploring Black Creativity & Expression, a dynamic and hands-on program designed to celebrate the legacy of Black arts education in Washington, DC.

Time: 1:00–2:15 PM
Location: Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum

Created for youth ages 8 and up, this 75-minute experience encourages creative exploration through guided art activities, close-looking sessions with works by influential Black artists and educators, and inquiry-based discussions. Participants will gain insight into the power of self-expression while connecting what they observe to their own creative process.

The program is offered on select Tuesdays and Thursdays through September 25, 2025, and is open to the public.

For groups of 10 or more:
• Advance registration is required at least one week prior to your visit
• Free bus transportation may be requested (available on a first come, first served basis)
• Please complete the guided student tour form before arrival
