Dec 26 - Jan 1 | Kwanzaa Week of Celebration at the Anacostia Museum

The Anacostia Community Museum will host the opening program of its weeklong Kwanzaa celebration, inviting the public to take part in an evening centered on culture, reflection, and community. The program will feature storyteller Mama Ayo, who will share the origins and significance of Kwanzaa and lead traditional ceremonies honoring the ancestors, including the pouring of the libation and candle lighting.

Attendees will also experience African drumming with Baba Ras D, who will engage the audience through unity songs and the sharing of African tales, helping to set a powerful and welcoming tone for the weeklong celebration.
