Call for Student Artists - Must Apply By Monday, Dec 1, 2025

The DC Public Library and the Pulitzer Center are inviting middle and high school students to submit original artwork for Freedom and Resistance: Through the Eyes of D.C. Youth — a powerful exhibition exploring creativity, history, and identity.

The exhibition will be on view in the Great Hall of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library from late January through March 2026, alongside The 1619 Project: The Visual Experience, featuring works by some of the nation’s most influential Black artists.

This is an incredible opportunity for young D.C. artists to share their voice, perspective, and talent on a major stage!

• Read about the exhibition themes
• Explore at least one required resource
• Submit up to four original works (visual art, sculpture, music, video, or performance)
• Complete an artist statement using the provided template
Deadline: Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.
