AUGUST 15 | Deadline to apply for Ward 8 Healthy Living Micro-Grant

The Ward 8 Healthy Living Microgrant Program seeks to support a wide variety of programs, reflecting the diverse passions and needs of the Ward 8 community.

The microgrants, ranging in support level, will fund projects through which the following outcome(s) will be achieved:

1. NUTRITION KNOWLEDGE: Improving knowledge of food and its benefits to health.
2. HEALTHY FOOD ACCESS: Improving access to healthy food (physically, logistically, transport, etc.)
3. FINANCIAL LITERACY: Improving financial education and management.
4. HEALTHY LIVING: Improving access to movement and other stress-reducing, mindful living activities that promote physical and emotional health.

Applicants may request funding to support new or existing programs, capital projects, equipment purchases, general operations and capacity building. Example projects include but are not limited to: • Community Events (grocery support, in-kind donations) • Cooking classes • Physical activity/ movement programs • After-school wellness programs • Financial education programming • Subsidizing the donation and sale of healthy food items in non-grocery retail locations Giant Food is seeking qualified community partners who want to address health disparities in their community, understand the needs of the Ward 8 community and have expertise or experience within a specific Funding Pillar.

Applicants may request up to $2,500. Only one application per organization per year (annual funding is not guaranteed). Larger requests must be submitted through Giant Food’s Charitable Giving Request Page. (https://giantfood.com/pages/donations)
