Anacostia Organics’ Buds & Books Announces Its First Book Club Pick

The votes are in, and it’s officially time to start reading! 📚

The Buds & Books community at Anacostia Organics has selected its very first book club read: James by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Percival Everett.

A reimagining of Mark Twain’s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, James tells the familiar story from the perspective of Jim, the enslaved man who escapes alongside Huck. Everett’s novel has earned widespread acclaim for its sharp, funny, powerful and thought-provoking examination of race, freedom, identity and whose stories get to be told.

Now it’s time for the Buds & Books community to dig in and get ready to talk about it.
