Wasteland by Eric Celarier at Honfleur Gallery

Honfluer Gallery is elated to bring Eric Celarier back for a solo show in Historic Anacostia. Calarier’s work was first showcased in April 2017 as part of Finder-Makercurated by Megan Maher. This DC native received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland in 1991 and his Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati in 1997. As an artist, educator and curator, much of his work can be seen as designing opportunities that allows audiences to construct personal meaningful understanding of the world we live in.

Wasteland describes the history, variety and surplus of electronic rubbish. These tapestries, made from expired circuit boards, allow the viewer to access the aesthetics underneath the glass, plastic and steel shells of the mundane appliances.

Celarier declares that trash does not lie. It can tell us without passion or prejudice, what is ultimately important to us. His work exploits the testimonial qualities of waste to describe what we actually do. Wasteland opens February 1, 2019 and runs through March 23,2019 in Honfleur Gallery 1241 Good Hope Road SE Washington DC 20020. The opening reception is free and open to the public. An artist talk will be held on February 23 from 2-4pm where Eric will discuss his work and process.
