Fox 5 Zip Trip to Anacostia

Join FOX 5 “Good Day DC” Anchors Tucker Barnes, Tony Perkins, Annie Yu, and Erin Como at the Grass Lot at 1234 Good Hope Rd, SE, Washington, DC (across from the Anacostia Arts Center and next to Grubb's Pharmacy). 

Tucker will kick off the Friday broadcast with the weather as Run Hope Work begins a community workout. Later in the hour, he will be joined by executive director of Run Hope Work, Tyler Brown, for an interview.

At 7, DJ Lawrence will perform for the festivities while Annie and Tony will join the broadcast and greet spectators as Tucker gives a weather update from Anacostia Park. Tucker will then speak to the Public Affairs Specialist of the National Parks Service, Pya Langley. At the end of the hour, Annie and Tony will present their “5 Must Stops” in Anacostia and interview the owners and founders of Mahogany Books, Derrick and Ramunda Young.

In the 8am hour, the FOX 5 team will be reporting from Ketchum Elementary School where Tony and Annie will conduct an interview with Greta Fuller, the ANC 8A06 Commissioner, and pose some trivia questions about the town. 

At  8:35 and 8:45 Tucker will report the weather with help from Jason Wallace, the Director of Volunteer and Community Supports Martha’s Table from inside Martha’s Outfitters. 

Right before 9, Tony will conduct an interview at the Anacostia Playhouse with Adele Robbey.

The “Good Day DC” team will head over to the Savoy Elementary School for the 9am hour. Tony will conduct his On The Market segment with Darrin Harris, the Owner/Principal Broker for Anacostia River Realty LLC. At 9:30am, as part of “Tucker Tries It,” he will attempt jewelry making inside Amber’s Gallery with Amber Mimz, a musician, designer, and creator. 

Erin will be reporting on “First Responder’s Friday,” showcasing the DC Fire/EMS and MPD. Annie will try a Taste of Anacostia at Good as Green Vegan Pop Up inside the Anacostia Arts Center Café with Najla Williams, the owner and chef.


In the final hour, Tony and Annie will present Maryam Foye, a community activist, as the Hometown Hero. At 10:30am, the “Good Day DC” team will reveal who has been named the Hometown Team. For the final Taste of Anacostia, Tony, Annie, and Erin will stop by Mama’s Pizza Kitchen and meet with Fatma Nayir, the owner.
