Native Washingtonians and products of Duke Ellington School of the Performing Arts, The dAb band (The Dior Ashley Brown Band) is a live soul filled combustion of Hip Hop, Funk, GoGo, and Jazz.
Apart of what makes the dAb Band unique is their improvised compositions where the lyrics and musical accompaniment become a beautiful complement to one another. Challenging the listener to melodic intricacies with daring lyrical feats, written and performed by Dior Ashley Brown. Empower young women and men who love the Hip Hop culture, to become more aware of themselves and their surround world. Creating divinely spirited vibes that not only reach their audience mentally, but internally raising their awareness, creating positive dispositions from their authentic creations.
The band is DC based, most recently performing for the Wounded Warrior Project, Joe’s Movement Emporium, Women and Whiskey’s Wednesdays, The 8×10, Baltimore, The Jam at Wilson Building’s “Politics and Art,” News Channel 8’s “Let’s Talk Live,” The Annual DC Funk Parade, East River Jazz’s “Ella Infusion: A Ella Fitzgerald Tribute from a Hip Hop Perspective,and WPFW’s “Live@5.”
