APRIL 15 | Deadline to apply for Leave It On The Board Artist Call and Contest

Leave It on the Board is a skateboard art show and juried competition celebrating DMV skate culture. Applicants are encouraged to submit evocative designs that tell a story and are transferable to skateboards. Twelve artists will be selected to paint a single skateboard or a triptych on three skateboards. Finalists will display their work in a juried competition at Honfleur Gallery in Historic Anacostia.

If selected, Honfleur Gallery will provide the skateboards, but each finalist must make a refundable $100 deposit. The deposit will be returned once the skateboards are submitted to the show.

ELIGIBILITY: Open only to artists 18 or older residing in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia.

CASH PRIZES:

  •  $1,000 For Best Board

  •  $1,000 For Best Triptych 

  •  $750 for 2nd Place

  •  $500 for 3rd Place

DEADLINE TO APPLY: April 15, 2023. The application requirements include the following:

  • Artist bio, resume, or CV

  • Ten work samples (jpeg or PDF) with a corresponding image list

EXHIBITION DATES: August 19, 2023, through September 16, 2023

SALES: Artists selected for the exhibition must sign the Honfleur Gallery Consignment Agreement. Honfleur Gallery shall sell artwork at the sales price agreed upon by the artist and purchaser, plus applicable DC sales tax, and remit proceeds to the artist, retaining a 50 % sales commission. Artwork created for the show is the property of the artist and will be returned at the show's close if they are not sold.
